A talent licensing API should let a product check the actual license before it exposes a person's likeness to a client workflow. Integration begins with the contract between systems and the rights rules each one enforces.
Define the contributor and license objects
Identify the contributor, likeness asset, current terms version, permitted categories, territory, term, status, and exclusions. Keep profile details separate from sensitive verification and capture media.
Decide which system is authoritative for consent and which events update the consuming app. A cached license should have a clear expiration or refresh strategy so a pause or term change does not remain invisible.
Make a request reviewable
A client request should include the intended use, campaign, category, territory, duration, and client identity. The API can validate structure and current scope, then route an out-of-scope request for human review where the program allows it.
An approval response should be linked to the request and terms version. Do not approve based only on the contributor being listed as active; the particular use still needs to fit the license.
Enforce checks before generation
Before a generation job starts, validate the active license, client status, signed contract, allowed use, dates, geography, provider eligibility, and any required review. Repeat critical checks server-side at the moment the job is submitted.
A change in status between request and execution can invalidate the earlier result. Use atomic or time-bounded decisions where possible, and keep the reason for every block visible.
Protect usage and payment data
Record actual generation use, contributor, client, category, amount, and status only when the authorized provider and billing path return those facts. Distinguish estimated, accrued, and paid amounts.
Approved.video's talent library and usage concepts are gated until identity, agreements, payouts, and generation providers are available. An API scaffold should not be presented as a live marketplace transaction.

Questions & answers
Can an app cache a talent license decision?
It can cache with a short, defined freshness period, but it should refresh or revalidate before sensitive actions and respond to status changes.
