An AI video API integration connects more than an endpoint. It connects user identity, asset rights, provider access, generation status, output storage, and the product experience that explains each result.

01

Define the system boundary

List what the client application owns and what the provider owns: identity, rights records, asset storage, prompts, job execution, moderation, output files, and status. This prevents a product from assuming that an API partner handles a responsibility it does not actually support.

Choose one source of truth for each record. A stable asset or request ID is often safer than copying the same likeness file into multiple systems. Document which service can update each field and how a consuming application learns that it changed.

02

Check authorization before the request

Before sending a generation request, verify the organization, client contract, asset status, permitted use, territory, term, and any provider conditions that apply. Return an actionable reason when a request fails rather than sending it and hoping the provider blocks it.

Use server-side checks for critical decisions. A browser can help the user understand status, but it should not be the sole enforcement point for access to a licensed likeness.

03

Plan asynchronous status and retries

Generation APIs may return a job identifier before the output is ready. Define polling or webhook behavior, idempotency, timeout handling, cancellation, and recovery when a provider callback is repeated or arrives late.

Keep provider errors distinct from local validation errors. A retry should not create duplicate work or bypass an unresolved rights restriction.

04

Test with honest fixtures

Use clearly labeled synthetic fixtures in development and write tests for missing scope, expired terms, wrong organization, provider outage, and failed generation. Do not display test assets as live talent or fake provider decisions in a public environment.

Approved.video's intended role is to connect rights and status information to builder-owned applications. A live integration requires an authorized provider and a matching contract for the capability being used.
